Join us for family fun this May Half-Term.  Take advantage of the amazing events and activities across our nine sites.  A fun day out for all the family! 

Test your detective skills for the Murder at Abbey House Museum, come and learn about mini beasts and go bug hunting at Leeds Industrial Museum or take a tour of the exhibition ‘Native Americans of the Plains’ at Lotherton Hall. 
Please refer to the museums’ website pages for opening times, how to find us and admission: www.leeds.gov.uk/museumsandgalleries. Unless stated, activities are free on usual admission to the Museum. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No booking required unless stated.  

Abbey House Museum  

Kids Clay Day
Mon 30 May (10am to 12noon and 2pm to 4pm)

Family fun activity celebrating ceramics and crafts this month. 

Potty Family Fun

Craft activities celebrating ceramic and crafts month. 

Food Explorers
Wed 1 June (10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm)

Food themed crafts inspired by our exhibition, Taste. 
Murder at the Museum
Thurs 2 June (10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm)

There has been a murder at Abbey House Museum!  Follow the trail of clues and test your detective skills. 

Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills  

Running Steam Locomotive Jack
Mon 2, Sat 28 and Mon 30 May (during open hours)

Re-live the golden age of steam with Jack, the 100 year old Hunslet locomotive. 

Running Mill Engine in Steam
Sun 1 and 29 May ( during open hours)

Feel the power of the Engine as it comes to life. 

Bug Hunts
Tues 31 May, Weds 1 and Thurs 2 June (10.30am and 2pm)

Come along and learn all about insects and mini beasts and go bug hunting. Booking is required, contact (0113) 263 7861. 

Leeds Art Gallery  

Moore drawing in Artspace
Mon 30 May to Sun 5 June

Inspired by some of Henry Moore’s most well known drawings, make marks with wax and watercolour. Free. 

Leeds City Museum  

Animal masks
Tues 31 May, Wed 1 and Thurs 2 June (10.30am to 3.30pm)

Have a look at our amazing animals and make your own animal mask. Free. 

Tiger Day!
Wed 1 June (all day)

Celebrate the Leeds Tiger! Come to Leeds City Museum dressed as a tiger, make a tiger mask, hear a tiger story. Free. 

Wildlife Tuesday
Tues 31 May (11am to 12pm)

Chat to the curator of ‘Life on Earth’ and to handle some of the natural science collection. 

Leeds Museum Discovery Centre 

The World according to…
Sat 28 May (2pm to 4pm)

Learn more about the stories behind less well known myths and legends from around the world. Make your own mythical creature. Booking required.  Tel: 0113 2141548. Free. 

The games people play!
Wed 1 June (10am to 12pm)

Come and join us for a fun packed workshop showing board games of yesteryear. Booking required.  Tel: 0113 214 1548. Free. 

Lotherton Hall  

Sea shells, see shells
Thurs 2 June (12pm to 2pm)

Handle the beautiful shells from our collection and paint and decorate your own. Booking required.  Contact (0113) 281 3259. Normal admission applies. 

Native Americans of the Plains – art attack
Sat 4 June (12pm to 3pm)

Celebrate World Environment Day and make a recycled art attack. Bring recycled packets and contribute to our artwork. Normal admission applies.
